Marion County was created in 1842 as part of the Commonwealth of Virginia. On June 20, 1863, West Virginia became the 35th state of The United States of America. Marion County has since been a proud part of it, too. Inside the museum is a collection of amazing and diverse artifacts from past centuries. They provide a connection to the events, times, fashions and culture of days gone by. In addition to the exhibits in this collection, there are special events, displays and programs throughout the year. Everyone, regardless of age, can appreciate the fascinating history waiting here that can be explored time and time again.
